Steelhead Fingerlings In Whychus Creek
5/18/2007
By Mike Van Meter

Civilization has been hard on fish.  Irrigation ditches and dams killed off steelhead and salmon runs in the Upper Deschutes Basin decades ago.  In an effort to replenish the runs, 175,000 steelhead fingerlings were put into Whychus Creek at Camp Polk Meadow last Saturday.  The fish had the help of hopes, prayers, and dozens of volunteers.  KLCC's Bend correspondent Mike Van Meter reports.
