3. Conservationists are in a race against the clock to save a sizable forest on Whidbey Island in Puget Sound.

4. Baker County officials will ask Governor Ted Kulongoski to declare an emergency in response to its worst flooding in more than 25 years.

5. A 70-year-old White City woman was in good condition, despite spending a night in the Morrow County wilderness.

6. Malcolm Gerlach, who was sentenced to 130 years for the kidnap and rape of a 10-year-old Eugene girl, has been sentenced to another 6 years for attempting to rape a pregnant woman in Roseburg.
