1. Conservation groups are suign the USFW over logging in the Elliot State Forest.

2.  Tre Arrow has been sentenced to 78 months in Federal prison for arson that destroyed cement and logging trucks in 2001.

3. The ODEQ has announced 17 penalties totalling $128k for July 2008.

4. Helicopters have taken crews into the Mt. Hood wilderness to set up camp a 270 acre wildfire.

5. Becca Bartleson reports Mercy Corps is currently assessing the crisis in Georgia.

6. In a split vote, the Eugene City Councilors approved an exclusion zone downtown.

7. A Eugene man is on the mend after being hit by a Union-Pacific train over the weekend. 

8.  Allegiant Air is adding nonstop service between Redmond Airport and Phoenix this fall.

5. State officials say they'll hold off on thier claim to public ownership of the banks of the Rogue River until landowners have had their day in court.

1. The Oregon Supreme Court has ruled that free speech must be protected even when somebody yells insulting or racist names.

2. The driver of a dory that severed the left arm of a 14-year-old Bend surfer last month will not face criminal charges.

3. The Independent Party of Oregon has filed suit against Secretary of State Bill Bradbury.

4. Oregon's biggest political contributor, Loren Parks, donated $75,000 this week to 3 crime-related proposals that will appear on the November ballot.

5. Thousands of people are expected at a public memorial Friday for the nine people who died in a helicopter crash during a wildfire August 5th in Northern California.

6. Fire dispatchers for Oregon and Washington say temperatures rising above 100 degrees this week will probably abate by Sunday.

7. Lawyers for the Bend doctor accused of causing a patient's death are arguing that it was nurses who gave the man too many painkillers.
