First Newscast:

1. Oregon's economy remains mired in a mild recession, according to a monthly report compiled by economists at the University of Oregon.

2. Doug Nadvornick reports from Coeur d'Alene on the higher gas prices in Idaho.

3. Factories, some power plants, truck fleets and car rental agencies will have to report their greenhouse gas emissions under a law passed by the Washington legislature.

4. Weyerhaeuser announced Monday it has completed the sale of its containerboard operations to International Paper.

5. Family members of the five people killed yesterday when a small plane crashed into a coastal vacation home are converging on Oregon.

6. The search continues for an Albany man missing since Sunday near Detroit Lake.

7. The bank robber referred to as "The Waddling Bandit" entered guilty pleas in federal court in Eugene today.

8. Tom Banse reports on the healthy return of Sockeye Salmon from the ocean high into the Idaho mountains.

2. Silverton Police Officer Tony Gonzalez has resigned rather than go on unpaid leave after being cleared in a fatal shooting but charged with sex abuse in an unrelated case.

First Newscast:

1. Rachael McDonald reports on Oregon Congressman Peter Defazio saying it's puzzling that some have been calling for opening up the nation's coastline for offshore drilling.

2. Anna King reports on the updated cost to bore a huge tunnel into Yucca Mountain in Nevada to store radioactive waste.

3. The University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History broke ground on a new wing today to house architectural artifacts.

4. A rescue operation is under way on Mount Hood for a man, apparently a climber who reported leg and ankle injuries.

5. Commonly used insecticides that have been showing up in Oregon watersheds could pose a real threat to endangered salmon.

6. One of the most wanted fugitives in Massachusetts have been spotted in Oregon.

1. Four people are in the hospital and nine are feared dead after a helicopter carrying firefighters crashed Tuedsay night in Northern California.

2. Tom Banse reports on an Oregon State University researcher who is on the ground in Beijing helping to assess the air pollution controls.

3. Austin Jenkins reports on a group that wants Northwest state's to adopt model legislation that would require states to hold DNA evidence indefinitely.

First Newscast:

1.  Investigators have recovered the cockpit voice recorder from the wreckage of a helicopter that crashed in Northern California.

2. About 200 firefighters are on the ground fighting a fire is burning near the Colville Indian reservation.

3. Kitty Piercy says an exclusion zone could work in downtown Eugene, but needs to be more narrowly focused.

4. Eugene Police Chief Robert Lehner say there's a legal reason for his decision not to pass information to the Police Auditor.

5. Mediation has been scheduled for a 15 million dollar sex abuse lawsuit against the Roman Catholic Church in Oregon after a judge refused to dismiss the case.

6. Medford-based Lithia Motors has posted its worst-ever quarterly results.

7. Two retailers in the Medford area who specialize in Hispanic products have been convicted of illegal tobacco sales.

8. After nearly two weeks of investigation, Eugene police say a man found shot to death in his home last month has no enemies.
