Frank Nearing, News Reporter Emeritus

The one and only Frank Nearing has just announced his retirement from KLCC, after 23 years of News Reporting. His service and presence will surely be missed, both at the station and on the air.

Since 1984, Frank has dutifully attended the meetings of government and education, reporting the people’s business on KLCC-FM. He kept tabs on Lane County, EWEB, 4J and Lane Community College, covering all those meetings and filing stories late at night. On Election night he would stay at Election headquarters until the final counts were released and THEN he would bring the results and taped interviews to KLCC to file his stories.

Frank holds an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Radio Broadcasting from Lane Community College. Before his second career at KLCC, he served the public for 27 years in social work with Catholic Charities.  He has been married to his patient and accommodating wife, Pat, for 60 years.

One of 16 children born to his family in Nova Scotia, Frank earned his U.S. Citizenship in 1966, from whence comes his deep respect for American civic discourse.

KLCC cannot thank Frank enough for being an incredible example and inspiration to all of us.

Listeners are encouraged to send Frank a message.

Listen to KLCC's Goodbye to Frank, 12/5/07.
