Telling the Story of... The McKenzie River Drift Boat
5/28/2009
By Jes Burns

Lane County’s visitors bureau recently released a new logo they hope highlights the quintessential natural and recreational attractions of the county.  At the very center of that new logo is the silhouette of two men in a boat – one seated one standing mid-cast with a fly rod.  The boat they’re sitting in is the McKenzie River Drift Boat – a rapid-running fishing boat that was designed and built along the shores of the McKenzie River.  And you can't go far without seeing one of these iconic boats sitting in a yard, being pulled on a trailer, or drifting along one of Oregon’s rivers.

In celebration of Oregon’s Sesquicentennial, KLCC’s Jes Burns has this history.
